I'm thrilled (finally) to announce that we now have ties for sale on the online store! And, they are the best we've had in years. I have a new business partner that owns a neckwear factory so we could do some very special things.
The best way to see and understand the ties is to watch the video.
I have "double layer" ties and "pleated" ties! Let me explain. The double layer ones are first printed with a pattern on very bright silk and then another layer of black sheer organza silk is layered on top. It's a bit tricky to sew since the two layers of silk are very slippery. It's a good thing they are made at our own factory! The result is a shimmer effect as the bright print peeks through the sheer layer. The ties are actually dark and mysterious and nice and narrow now too. This is about as modern looking as a tie can get.
Now the pleated ties...Remember the Accordion pleated shirts we did for years? Well, that gave us the idea to try that same technique in ties. It wasn't as easy as the shirt since the pleats can't move in the tie! After a lot of trial and error we came up with a way to secure the tie. It's all done in the way the back of the tie is sewn. The effect is so 3D and since the ties are printed first and then pleated, the prints get broken up in interesting ways.
These are the most exciting ties we've done in a long time. Hope it was worth the wait!
